PIONEER EQUIPMENT RENTAL AND SUPPLY (December 23, 2004)SELECTS PONCA CITY FOR HEADQUARTERS SITE Pioneer Equipment Rental and Supply and the Ponca City Development Authority, (PCDA) reached an agreement this week to locate the company's corporate headquarters in Ponca City. The agreement, approved by a unanimous vote of the Authority's Board of Trustees on Wednesday and signed by the company this morning, will be bring an estimated ten jobs to the community in exchange for an incentive package valued at $24,000. Pioneer Equipment Rental and Supply currently has seven retail stores in Oklahoma and Texas. The company rents and sells tools and equipment to residential and commercial customers. The Ponca City location opened in 1998. According to John Redwine, Owner of the Ponca City store, the company has grown to a point where it requires a corporate headquarters in order to centralize ordering, accounting and other management functions for the expanding firm. "Our company is a collection of stores owned by my Dad and myself. It makes sense to consolidate our management at one location and it will give us greater economies of scale and financing opportunities." The company was considering other potential headquarter locations in Oklahoma and Ponca City was the least centrally located. Redwine, however, wanted to stay in the community, if an agreement could be reached. "You guys know better than anyone what a good place to live this is and my family and I wanted to stay." Redwine said in comments made to the PCDA Trustees. The agreement will assist the company in developing a headquarters office behind their existing retail store on West South Street. The agreement is restricted to supporting the headquarters operation due to a legal restriction that does not allow PCDA to provide financial assistance to retail outlets. The new headquarters will bring an immediate six jobs and retain two existing jobs, including Redwine, in Ponca City. These positions include a general management, controller, corporate sales as well as additional accounting and administrative personnel. The average pay of the headquarter positions exceeds the Oklahoma Quality Job level of $15.00 per hour and the company provides employee benefits including health insurance. Redwine estimates that the headquarters may employ as many as 13 employees within four years. PCDA Board members and City Commissioner Stan Kistler hailed the agreement as he thanked Redwine for selecting Ponca City for the company's headquarter location. Kistler said, "This is another growing, family business that adds not only good jobs but truly fine people to our community."
